In the 6 years since I created this journal I've tried this many times, usually with a goal of watching 100, but the pressure gets to me and I crumble. This year, I'll try just forming a list, and I will watch anywhere from 1, to 100, to 1 million... and there will be no pressure.

- Only films I've watched for the first time will be listed

- I'll rate each film from 0 to 5; 0 being a waste of time, 5 being genius

- Some may be worth passing comment, but I won't force it if it's not worth it

- Please feel free to recommend any that I may find interesting, I'm always happy to try new genres/directors, etc.

Day 30 Your favorite song at this time last year

Capybara "The Wimp"

This song isn't in the video featured, but it's still a very good song from the same album. It's the band Capybara singing to a... capybara. How could I not post this? I was obsessed with this album last year.

Happy New Year everyone!

Day 29 A song from your childhood

Kate Bush "Cloudbusting"

I remember growing up my dad would record music videos from MTV and have huge collections that he'd play on a Sunday morning, Kate Bush sticks in my mind the most. I still love this song, and I still love this video.

Day 28 A song that makes you feel guilty

Yann Tierson "Guilty"

I honestly have no idea. Here's the first song that came up when I typed "guilty" into my iTunes.

Day 27 A song that you wish you could play

Set Fire To Flames "I Will Be True"

I would love to learn to play the violin, or cello, or some other string instrument, and I'm sure I will do one day. I don't think there is any other instrument that can evoke so much emotion.

Day 26 A song that you can play on an instrument

Michael Jackson "Human Nature"

I used to be able to play this on my electronic keyboard when I was about 9. This song and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" were favourites. I have piano players hands.

I want a new job, or I know that I should want a new job. I become comfortable too easily, meaning that I could be serving popcorn and hot dogs to cinema-goers for quite some time. I don't think this is what I had in mind at all when I started my degree, I don't think this should be where I become content... even if it is conveniently close and easy money.

Day 25 A song that makes you laugh

Midlake "Kingfish Pies"

Festive love to all on my flist! I hope you're all having a wonderful day; I'm familied out and feeling fat so I must be doing something right today. I've had a week full of xmas festivities with various loved ones, here's how I've made mine a more festiveful season:

  • Watched Muppet Christmas Carol. It was a great reminder of how good that film is, of how much it gets me in the mood, and of how much modern Christmas films just cannot compare to the oldies and the classics. No.
  • Watched The Snowman: A Live Show. Yeah, that one wasn't so enjoyable - even WITH the Joanna Lumley commentary - but I was out voted 3 to 1 by the family (my vote was for Coraline...)
  • Watched Coraline. I'm very persuasive. I love this film, I've never encountered such an utterly warming, and yet horrifying kids film. It really warms me to Teri Hatcher too, which is a real surprise.
  • Watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
  • Watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Good God, Alan Rickman is king.
  • Enjoyed the snow. Walked the dog, walked the family, general crunching-beneath-your-feet stuff. It's bizarre how it's just hanging around, it's nearing 4 days since it snowed and it's still yet to disappear.
  • Fake-Christmas with the boyfriend: tree and stockings and good food and good music. That was a warm one, I enjoyed that.
  • Real-Christmas with the family: equally enjoyable, although lesser good presents, as I have aunts who really don't seem to know me too well at all. It's always a nice morning though.

I could go on, tree-chopping, Christmas-market-visiting, snowman-building, and it's not over yet. Tomorrow my dad's unveiling the 3D tv to the family with a screening of Avatar 3D (it's a little underwhelming, truth be told... though I'm biting my tongue). In all it's been a very warm few weeks, which I'll be sad to see the end of.

Here is my meme. Well, it's a little break from my meme because I want to finish it on the last day of the year. For a 30 day meme in a 31 day month, here is a quick interval. Naturally, there's nothing else you should be listening to today:
